Kampala Junior Academy (KJA) is one of the leading private schools in Uganda, offering nursery school, daycare, and primary school education since 1993.
The school was founded by Mrs Mary Mulumba, a dedicated teacher with over 60 years in the field of early childhood education. From the beginning, her dream was clear — to give young learners a strong start in life through quality, caring, holistic and child friendly education.

Our Campuses
We started humbly, with only a Nursery Section at Clement Hill Road, focusing on the youngest children in our care. Our daycare and preschool programs helped parents feel supported, knowing their little ones were in safe hands. By 1997, we had grown to open our Primary section, and in 2003, we proudly saw our first P7 pupils sit for their Primary Leaving Exams (PLE).
Today, Kampala Junior Academy has five campuses across Kampala:
Kitante
The Kampala Junior Academy – Kitante campus is our original home and the heart of the KJA story. Located along Yusuf Lule Road, just opposite the Golf Course, KJA Kitante continues to offer high-quality nursery school, daycare, and primary school education.
Najjanankumbi
The Kampala Junior Academy – Najjanankumbi campus is our other blended nursery and primary school, located on serene Kaggwa Road off Kampala-Entebbe Road, just after Masanyalaze. It offers a warm and nurturing environment where young learners grow and thrive.
Makindye
At KJA Makindye, we create a safe, welcoming, and stimulating environment where young children can explore, learn, and grow with confidence. Our dedicated teachers and nurturing atmosphere ensure that every day is filled with joy, discovery, and meaningful learning
Bunga
Our Bunga campus offers a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment where young learners can explore, learn, and grow. As a leading early childhood education center in Kampala, we provide a balanced and structured curriculum tailored for the early years, ensuring that every child receives the attention and support they need to thrive.
Ntinda
Kampala Junior Academy Ntinda is temporarily CLOSED for renovations as we work to enhance our learning environment. We appreciate your patience and look forward to welcoming you back to an improved and refreshed campus soon!
